End of the day at Mazeppa Bay, Transkei coast, Eastern Cape, South Africa. This shot was taken while I was taking photos for a surf trip. The waves weren't really on that day so I ventured out for a few landscape shots. This has heavy, harsh backlighting, I just want to know if it ruins the shot or makes the shot?

Agreed. I would've like to of seen the top on the hills/coast, but I think the lighting is good. Well done Smile MrW

Thanks for the comments guys. Yes, those are figures in the distance. On the full size version you see them alot better, you can even see their fishing rods.

I like shots against the light and to answer your question I think it makes this shot. A lovely dramatic feel to the picture - very well seen. Maybe it is just the angle of view but looking at the waves and shore it looks to me as if the horizon is not quite straight and I think I would be more comfortable with the shot if you straighted it. Subjective as always, but I think it is much more dramatic if you crop off the sky. To me, the brightness above the mountains makes me look up and away from the main focus of the picture - it's distracting.

Thanks David, those were all really valid points and I'm definately going to consider a re-edit. Nice critique.
