Great composion and as Perry says, it has a lot of potential. The B/W suggestion would be one good idea to try. Otherwise I would try to bring out more of the wood texture.

More wood texture is good idea but I really like this composition, leads to eye well towards the horizon and I like the colours too.

Its really odd because the original I have on my pc after texturizing it a bit in photoshop is vastly different from how it posted on here. It gives it a canvas look which I think looks great but it doesn't show up on this site for some reason. Anyone know why this would be???

i saw a grainy look - so that was the texture - i suspect its something to do with jpg compression and if you did resize the resizing

Yes I suspect its something to do with the resizing also. There is a bit of grain in this one but nothing like the canvas look of the original. Oh well....
