HiYa Wendy - Going to 'shoot from the hip' and tell it like I see it. Ready for this ?
OK. What, objectively, are you showing me here - I see a child in a large helmet. The pose, composition and direction of his gaze take me straight out of the frame, reading from the upstretched hand, down through his face and out through the other hand.
This is a familiar story Wendy. It's about the occasion, sights, smells, atmosphere, colours and noise present at the time, not transferring to the two dimensional world of photography. A very nice family-album type image but for 'Joe Public' you have to provide more information. Eyes turned to the camera, more of the surroundings to set the scene and no 'leading lines' out of frame !
